Global engagement is very important to our world. I didn’t know what it took to be globally engaged and how simple it could be. As stated in the presentation being globally engaged can be as simple as obtaining a passport and traveling to a different country. Knowing what is going on in the rest of he world is vital to our lives. We are not the only country in the world and it is naïve to think that we are the only one that matters.
In the video “Running Dry” I saw how bad it really is in other parts of the world and how good we have it. While fresh water is scarce in parts of India and Africa we in America use water frivolously and waste it everyday. We do not realize how much work goes into getting us clean drinking water. Jane Seymour put it best when she said that the global humanitarian water crisis is not only an economic issue, it’s a moral issue. We choose whether or not we care about these things and whether we decide to do anything help.
There are different ways you can become globally engaged here at ASU. You can attend and ASU international film series, attend an ISO world festival on campus, or you can attend an ASU international lecture. One of the best ways to becoming globally engaged is to take advantage of ASU’s studying abroad programs, more of like a crash course in engagement. About 62 percent of students study abroad in Europe. ASU is a great facilitator for global engagement.

Diversity
Jimmy Carter once said that we have become not a melting pot but a beautiful mosaic. Different people, different beliefs, different yearnings, different hopes, different dreams. What the former president said is exactly what ASU is today. The module explained to us that there are people here from 50 different states and 141 different countries. We are exposed to all of these different cultures everyday. There is more to people than just the color of their skin. The video “All Orientals Look Alike” made it clear that not all Orientals look alike they have their own personalities, styles, and you can tell just by looking at their pictures.
Many cultures in the outside world is a reality, it is not just Americans here anymore. We are getting to the point where we need to educate ourselves with other people’s cultures. That way we can more appreciate their diversity. My major is Global business and the key word I pick up is “global”. I cannot go through a career in global business and only know about people in my backyard. I need to learn about all of my surroundings in order to be a more successful businessman.
ASU makes it easier for students to be more culturally diverse. Once and a while in the middle of campuses students will be promoting their clubs some of them clubs dealing with different clubs such as the Hispanic clubs. Overall being culturally diverse can only benefit you in the long run and ASU is here to help.

Entrepreneurship
An entrepreneur is a person who organizes and manages any enterprise, especially a business, usually with considerable initiative and risk. There are many people who are entrepreneurs that I never realized until I watched the presentation. I had no idea that Tony Hawk was considered a “risk taker”. Entrepreneurs work to help out their community. If they see a problem they want to get in there and solve the problem. As stated in the PowerPoint entrepreneurship is the act of creating new ventures that generate and capture value by realizing opportunities though creativity, innovation, knowledge, skill, and passion while managing resources and risks. Characteristics of an entrepreneur include having self-confidence, passion, tolerance, discipline, and a competitive nature.

Before coming to ASU I didn’t have very good experiences with libraries. It was always hard for me to find what I was looking for and the people there didn’t really want to help you, not to mention they were all old and grumpy. Now at ASU I am confident in Fletcher libraries abilities to help me achieve the grades I was meant to.
ASU libraries not only make it easy to find what you need at school; they give you the convenience of searching all of the ASU databases from the comfort of your home. These days when writing papers for our classes; the instructors want scholarly works. The ASU libraries website provides a program called Ebsco Host that provides students with scholarly works, newspaper articles, and even journal entries. Ebsco Host is not only easier but your professors trust it. If you should happen to go to either Google or Ask.com to obtain research you are flirting with danger. Marc Mason in the module said that Google could provide many inappropriate sources. Anyone can make a website about something they know nothing about. The worst part about it is you don’t know whether that particular source is accurate.

Student Success
Student success at ASU is very important. As a student with no success you could end up not graduating and wasting valuable time. Student success includes asking for help when needed, being prompt when attending classes, and managing your time so you do well in all of your classes.
Throughout high school some of us got by without using some of these key tips. This is college know and we as students cannot afford to slack of. Now that we are college students there are going to be some changes. Some of these changes include taking responsibility for our education and ourselves. Our professors do not really care if we are not in class because it is our responsibility to show up. Aristotle once said,” For what is the best choice, for each individual is the highest it is possible for him to achieve.” I happen to believe if we achieve success here at ASU we can achieve success in the real world.
Now that we are in college nobody is holding our hand. What I mean by that is nobody is going to constantly get on us about doing our homework or participating in class because we are supposed to do those things on our own. It seems a little sudden and a little harsh but that is how it is really like. When we hopefully graduate we are going to want to find a job. If we can’t take are of our responsibilities we WILL be fired, and quick.

Pearl Bailey once said, “The first and worst of all frauds is to cheat one's self. All sin is easy after that.” With cheating comes consequences and according to the academic integrity they are pretty bad.

In the PowerPoint presentation Joe Bunker stated that studies have shown that acting with integrity or doing the right thing can become a habit. If we listen to Joe and do the right thing we wont ever have to worry about the consequences of cheating because we will never be cheating in the first place. I always have believed in doing the right thing: it has paid of for me. I do not believe I would have arrived where I am today if I tried to cheat my way through high school. ASU is a very scholarly university who I would hope would never accept people who steal papers.

All in all cheating is not worth it we lose credibility as a student and in reality are looked at differently by our employers, our professors and or peers. Why would we bother spending our hard earned money to go to a good school if we are going to cheat? My education is very important to me and that is why I will never be academically dishonest.
