Entrepreneurship

An entrepreneur is a person who organizes and manages any enterprise, especially a business, usually with considerable initiative and risk. There are many people who are entrepreneurs that I never realized until I watched the presentation. I had no idea that Tony Hawk was considered a “risk taker”. Entrepreneurs work to help out their community. If they see a problem they want to get in there and solve the problem. As stated in the PowerPoint entrepreneurship is the act of creating new ventures that generate and capture value by realizing opportunities though creativity, innovation, knowledge, skill, and passion while managing resources and risks. Characteristics of an entrepreneur include having self-confidence, passion, tolerance, discipline, and a competitive nature.
I always thought that I could be an entrepreneur. I had the urge just to invent something that could make my life and others lives a little easier. Being an entrepreneur is not all about making money. Some people take risks out of the goodness of their hearts. If they could help people in need that would be good enough for them. Our society needs entrepreneurs because they contribute so much. If we did not have Bill Gates or Steven Jobs to create such an important piece of technology we would not be able to accomplish as much as we do now
ASU helps facilitate these people by the use of special entrepreneur programs such as the Edson Student Entrepreneurship initiative which provides student led teams with the resources such as office space, funding and training to start a new venture. If you want to be an entrepreneur ASU is the place to go.

I also did not ever think about the different areas of life in which entrepreneurship couuld be applied. I only thought of the business aspect of things. However, I would consider Tony Hawk a risk-taker just because he skateboards. There are a lot of risks involved with that. One criticism, cite at least by name where you got your information from.
